It has been a busy summer in the UK industry and things do not seem to be slowing down any time soon.
The AD Guild is run by a Council and Committees of working Assistant Directors and one of the side-effects of this frantic time has been an additional strain on our team as we work on our productions and our work for Guild members.
We are now trying to address this.
As our Guild has grown to over 400 members, one of our key priorities is to employ a Guild Manager to maintain the momentum of Guild activities. They will oversee the day-to-day running of the Guild, implement training and workshops and help to raise our profile and membership.
We are currently drawing up a Job Description which will be published here on the ADG website and advertised soon. If you know of anyone who you think might be suitable, please direct them here to our website in a few weeks time for details on how to apply. Or let us know at email@example.com
In other news, we held our first Movie Magic Scheduling weekend in Glasgow with 1st AD Francesco Reidy and the support of Screen Scotland and NFTS Scotland. Twelve Guild members attended the 2-day course for free thanks to the subsidy arranged with Screen Scotland. With this successful model established, we are hoping to hold more training events soon.
There continues to be a steady stream of jobs advertised on our Guild Telegram channels and enquiries through our Find An AD service on the website - please make sure you keep your availability up to date on your Profile page!
At recent Council meetings, we have been following the progress on industry events. We have also been looking at supporting a new anti-bullying app for the industry. Call It! is being tested currently and should go live in the UK early next year. Do check it out and let us know what you think - more details here - https://www.callitapp.org
If you are a Guild member, please feel free to get in touch with us at any time if you have any suggestions for your Guild's future - firstname.lastname@example.org
The AD Guild aims to help all AD's working in the UK and beyond. Help us to help you...
